SEO for Med Spas

When someone talked about SEO a few years back, that meant title tags and link building. OK, maybe a little more than that, but most people thought that was mostly it when hiring an SEO firm.  Today, SEO is much more advanced and technical. SEO encompasses everything it takes to increase traffic to a website. Which includes involvement in design, coding, content creation, on-page technical issues and we haven’t even started on off-page issues. Link building, content marketing, outreach, and much more. Below are some of the essential aspects of creating a digital strategy for a medical spa business.

Link Building for Medical Websites

Link building is one of the most important steps in order to get your website to rank well in Google. It is of utmost importance that you build quality backlinks to your website.

Think of it this way. If a link is really easy for you to get your competitors can easily get the same links. On top of that, the easy to get links usually aren’t the ones that move the needle. Focus your efforts on blogs that will actually drive traffic to your website. You can find a complete list of our best link building techniques here.

Fast Mobile-Friendly Med Spa Website

Before you can begin any marketing efforts for your medical spa will need to ensure the basics are covered. Sure, lots of medical spas have a website, but most are way behind the times. You must have a fast, mobile-friendly website. Why is a quick website important? Searchers don’t have patience and won’t wait around for your website to load.

Before you begin to test the speed of your website ensure you have a mobile-friendly website.  A mobile-friendly website will generally load faster and have a better user experience for your web visitors. Not sure if your website is mobile friendly or not? You can use Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test Tool.

Like we mentioned before having a website that is mobile-friendly is only half the battle. If your website doesn’t load within three seconds, you will lose 53% of your potential customers. That is a massive loss of potential income. So how can we increase website speed?  There are numerous factors in website speed including; hosting, coding, images, etc. Google has another great tool called PageSpeed Insights.   This tool will give you specific recommendations on how to speed up your website.  Not sure how? We offer website speed optimization services.

Tip: Be sure your address and phone number both show when you view your website in mobile. This is a huge mistake many businesses make. Someone lands on a website, and they look for the phone number, but the mobile version cuts it off. Now the customer is frustrated and needs to look elsewhere.

Med Spa Service Pages

Many med spas spend little to no time developing their website and optimizing for their services.  Invest in quality content that describes the services you offer. Create individual pages for each service you offer.  This will make it easier to rank in the search engines when somebody searches for “botox + city name” or “coolsculpting + city name” or various related services.

Med Spa Local Business Listings

Once you have your website up and running, you can now focus on business listings also known as local citations. The importance of these business listings is to give Google and other search engines a reassurance you have an actual business and where it is located. Many of these business listings have a verification process that helps prove the business is legit. Google and the other search engines will look for consistency of NAP (Name, Address, Phone) across these business listings websites.

Two of the essential business listings are Yelp and Google My Business. Both of these require a stricter verification process and are vital to ranking well in the search engines. Also, people trust the reviews left on these two websites more than any other places. As you can see reviews and trust are critical for medical spa SEO.

Google My Business – https://www.google.com/business/

The Importance of Med Spa Reviews

Online reviews are hugely important these days for every business but especially for medical spas. Not only do they figure into the Google ranking algorithm but most potential customers will search for reviews about your business before deciding on which service is best. You want as many reviews as you can get but you also want highly rated reviews. Each review website has its own policies on how you can approach customer reviews. Google lets you ask customers for a review while Yelp doesn’t.  There are things you can do to encourage reviews without asking specifically for a review.  When it comes to online reviews it is always a good idea to consult with a professional that can give you solid advice. Social Media Marketing for Med Spas

Start with the basics and be sure you claim all of your social media profiles first.  You’d be surprised how many businesses fail to do this. At the very minimum, your business should be on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and SnapChat.

The next step is to start creating content.  Figure out how often you should post and create a schedule. For most medical spas posting 4-7 times a week is a good strategy.  Don’t neglect the weekends because those can be prime opportunities when people are staring at their phones while not at work.

PPC for Med Spas

PPC or Pay-Per-Click is the paid ads you see at the top and bottom of the search results.  They can be costly if you don’t know what you are doing. There are lots of strategies and things to learn when getting into PPC. If you are new you can check out this great beginners guide to get you started.  PPC can start providing online traffic almost immediately where SEO can take a few months before you start seeing results.

Running a business can be tough, even tougher without an online presence. By ensuring you follow these steps you will gain some ground on your competition. In some cities, this might help tremendously while in more competitive cities you might need more advanced SEO. In a related post you might find some value in our plastic surgery SEO blog post.
